Something ‘quilty’ going on in Sisters this week

KTVZ

You can’t put summer and Sisters in the same sentence without saying the quilt show too. On Sunday, things kicked off for the week of quilting activities for the Sisters Quilt Show.

The Around the Block Fiber Arts Stroll and Quilt Walk was held Sunday afternoon in downtown Sisters.

Fiber artists from Central Oregon were on hand, showing off their fabric, dying, weaving and knitting.

Almost every single business had an artist or quilts hanging inside their store.

Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show Executive Director Anne Richardson says she loves the show because they push quilting its limits.

“So we do have our quilts out, and we do have some of are featured quilters with their work on display today,” Richardson said. “But we also have a variety of things that quilters and fiber artists are doing that really gives us a different atmosphere.”

The Sisters Quilt Show is considered the largest event in Sisters with a huge draw for people around the world.

It’s said that more than $2.4 million is added to our local economy from the events held during this week.

The big show is next Saturday, with 1,400 quilts on display.
