Prineville man accused of pointing gun at ex-wife
A Prineville man was arrested early Tuesday, accused of pointing a rifle at his ex-wife and threatening to shoot her during an argument at their home, Crook County sheriff’s deputies said.
Deputies and Prineville police were dispatched shortly after midnight to a mobile home park at 3050 N. Main Street on a report of menacing with a firearm during a domestic dispute, said Undersheriff John Gautney.
Deputies and officers arrived to learn the suspect, Daniel Russell Daugherty Sr., 52, had left the home, Gautney said. While they were securing the scene, Daugherty returned to the home and was detained without further incident.
An investigation determined that Daugherty and his ex-wife, who reside in the same residence, were having a dispute, during which he allegedly pointed a 30.06 rifle at her and made threats to shoot her.
The woman became fearful for her life and called 911, Gautney said. There were no injuries, the undersheriff said, and “alcohol is believed to have played a role” in the incident.
Daugherty was booked into the Crook County Jail on a charge of menacing with a firearm, with bail set at $5,000.
