Hines man killed in crash south of Burns

KTVZ

Oregon State Police say a 26-year-old Hines man was killed early Sunday when his pickup left a highway south of Burns and he was thrown to the ground.

OSP troopers were notified around 12:30 a.m. that a passing motorist had found the single-vehicle crash on Highway 205 about 10 miles south of Burns.

Troopers said a preliminary investigation indicates a 2006 Dodge pickup driven by Damon Andrew Davis was negotiating a curve when it traveled off the side of the road and rolled before coming to rest down a gully on its top.

Davis, who was not wearing a seat belt, was thrown from the pickup, they said.

Fire personnel from the Burns and Hines fire departments responded to the scene. Davis was taken by ambulance to Harney District Hospital, where was pronounced dead.

OSP troopers from the Burns work site are continuing the investigation. Senior Trooper Alan Johnson is the lead investigator. The Burns Police Department assisted during this incident.
