Motorcyclist badly hurt in crash near Camp Sherman

A Washington state motorcyclist was critically injured Wednesday afternoon when she lost control trying to slow down for a traveling partner along a Forest Service road in the Camp Sherman area, about four miles north of Highway 20, Oregon State Police said.

According to Senior Trooper William Duran, around 2:50 p.m., a 2000 Harley Davidson motorcycle operated by Sheri L. Bryant, 51, of Granger, Wash., was following another motorcycle traveling together along Forest Service Road 1419.

As the leading motorcycle slowed to turn right, Bryant braked hard and lost control, Duran said. The motorcycle tipped onto its side and slid across the opposite lane before coming to rest on the shoulder.

Bryant, who was wearing a helmet, was taken to St., Charles-Bend, where she was reported in critical condition Wednesday night.

OSP was assisted at the scene by the Black Butte Police Department, Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office and Black Butte Ranch Rural Fire District.
