The Oregon Association of Hospitals and Health Systems (OAHHS) honored Rep. Jason Conger (R – Bend) Thursday as their Legislator of the Year. The award recognizes Rep. Conger’s work on hospital and healthcare issues during the 2013 Oregon Legislature.

“Rep. Conger was a tireless advocate for Oregon’s hospitals this session,” said Andy Davidson, president and CEO of the Oregon Association of Hospitals and Health Systems. “He worked collaboratively through the session with hospitals to improve vital health care access and funding for the Oregon Health Plan, and his support is greatly appreciated by Oregon’s 58 community hospitals and the patients they serve.”

The mission of OAHHS is to provide “leadership in health policy, advocacy and comprehensive member services that strengthen the quality, viability and capacity of Oregon hospitals to best serve our communities.”

“Healthcare access, cost and quality are among the most pressing issues facing Oregonians, our state and our nation as a whole,” said Rep. Conger. “It is an honor to be recognized by an organization that represents one of the most important institutions in our communities – our local hospitals.”

Among other things, OAHHS cited Conger’s work on Oregon’s healthcare transformation, medical liability reforms and Medicaid system as well as his thoughtful, bipartisan efforts to improve the lives of Oregonians as reasons for the award.

Conger is a member of the House Healthcare Committee, House Revenue Committee and the Joint Committee on Tax Credits. 2013 was the third session that Rep. Jason Conger represented Bend in the Oregon Legislature. For more information, contact him at rep.jasonconger@state.or.us or 503-986-1454.
