Help fight breast cancer at bank ATMs
It’s now easier than ever for Wells Fargo customers in Oregon to support the fight against breast cancer, thanks to the bank’s ATM donations program.
Wells Fargo has added the Oregon and S.W. Washington affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure to the list of nonprofit groups on its ATMs. Wells Fargo customers can now give anywhere from one cent to $299.99 to Komen by simply pushing a button at any of Wells Fargo’s 231 ATMs in Oregon.
The money raised will help Komen provide life-saving education, screening and support services in Oregon and S.W. Washington, as well as breakthrough research around the world.
The Komen organization joins five other organizations already a part of Wells Fargo’s ATM donation program: Mercy Corps, Oregon Food Bank, Oregon Mentors, Start Making a Reader Today , and Freshwater Trust.
The customer is not charged any fee for using the service; 100 percent of the donation is sent to the nonprofit. The donation may be tax-deductible. The donor’s ATM receipt serves as proof of the gift.
“Many of our own team members and customers, their friends and family have been impacted by breast cancer. Our partnership with the Komen organization offers our generous customers an easy way to support the effort to end breast cancer forever,” said Wells Fargo Regional President Don Pearson.
“Last year Komen served more than 38,000 people in our region with education, outreach, screenings, transportation and support services,” added Pearson, who serves on the Komen board in Portland. “We want to do all we can to help this worthy cause.”
Strong Ties For Years
Wells Fargo had strong ties for years to the Komen affiliate, which selected Pearson to serve as honorary chair of its Race for the Cure run and walk in Portland on Sept. 15. Wells Fargo is the presenting sponsor of the event. Last year Wells Fargo had the largest team in the Race for the Cure in Portland.
