OSP investigates illegal deer killing in Bend

The Oregon State Police Fish & Wildlife Division Bend office is asking for the public’s help in finding whoever is responsible for the illegal shooting with an arrow of a 4×4 trophy-sized buck deer overnight,found Monday morning in southeast Bend.

A reward is offered through the Oregon Hunters Association Turn-In-Poachers (TIP) program to help solve this case.

Around 6:45 a.m., a resident reported finding a seriously injured deer that had been shot with an arrow and left to waste along Duncan Lane near Reed Market Road and the Bend Parkway, troopers said.

A Bend police officer responded and dispatched the deer because of its serious injury.

OSP Fish & Wildlife Division troopers responded to investigate the deer’s unlawful killing.

According to Sgt. Lowell Lea, the buck deer is one of several deer known to roam in the Bend area. OSP troopers investigating believe it was shot sometime between 6:00 p.m. Sunday and 6:00 a.m. Monday .

A reward of up to $500 is offered by the Oregon Hunters Association Turn-In-Poachers (TIP) reward program for information leading to an arrest and conviction in this case. Anyone with information regarding this investigation is asked to contact the TIP line at (800) 452-7888.
