NW Bend crash leads to hit-and-run charges
A car that crashed off Archie Briggs Road in northwest Bend Saturday night brought police and fire medics to the scene — but no sign of the driver, prompting a search of the area. He later was cited at a friend’s house on hit-and run charges involving a damaged utility box, officers said.
Residents of the area near Archie Briggs and Lower Village Way, just west of the Deschutes River, said they saw or heard a car driving downhill leave the road and overturn.
Police and medics were called to the scene around 10:30 p.m. and found the wrecked car, but no one with it. Archie Briggs Road was closed for a time as authorities searched the area for the driver, eventually identified as Bend-area resident Christopher James Raven, 37, said Sgt. Kurt Koester.
Raven was found at a friend’s home Sunday morning and cited and released on the charge of leaving the scene of a crash that involved property damage, Koester said. No medics were called to the scene, he said.
