FS seeks advisory panel applicants

The Deschutes and Ochoco National Forests and the Crooked River National Grassland are seeking nominations to the Secure Rural Schools (Title II) Resource Advisory Committee, which provides advice and recommendations to the Forest Service on the development and implementation of special projects on federal lands.

The Forest Service is seeking new members for two categories (A and B) under the Act. The two categories include representatives from the following groups:

Category A:
” Organized labor or non-timber forest product harvester groups;
” Developed outdoor recreation, off-highway vehicle users, or commercial recreation activities;
” Energy and mineral development interests, or commercial or recreational fishing interests;
” Commercial timber industry; or
” Federal grazing or other land use permit holders or representatives from nonindustrial private forest land owners, within the RAC area.

Category B:
” Nationally recognized environmental organizations;
” Regionally or locally recognized environmental organizations;
” Dispersed recreational activities;
” Archaeological and historical interests; or
” Nationally or regionally recognized wild horse and burro interest groups, wildlife or hunting organizations, or watershed associations.
