St. Charles Foundation elects 3 board members
St. Charles Foundation, the philanthropic arm of St. Charles Health System, announced the election of Rick Jacobson, Dr. John Nunes and Corinne Martinez to its board. All three were elected to three-year terms.
Rick Jacobson is the retired president and chief executive officer of NORPAC Foods, an international fruit and vegetable processing and marketing cooperative. His consulting company currently contracts with the Pendleton Grain Growers to provide general management services. Jacobson serves on the Board of CoBank, where he is a member of the Risk Committee. Rick and his wife Gayle (who died from cancer in 2011) provided the financial support to establish St. Charles’ Harvest of Hope, a program that provides healthy food to cancer patients and family members.
Dr. John Nunes is the Chief Medical Officer of St. Charles Medical Group. He graduated from Santa Clara University and Georgetown School of Medicine. He served in the United States Air Force in Germany as a physician attached to the 525-fighter squadron. He is a board-certified obstetrician and gynecologic surgeon whose clinical interests include minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery and high-risk pregnancy. Additionally, Nunes is a master instructor in TEAM STEPPS, centering on team training and patient safety. He is currently co-leading the learning and culture initiatives at St. Charles Health System.
Corinne Martinez is owner of Wilderness Garbage and Recycling serving La Pine, Gilchrist, Crescent, Crescent Lake Junction and Chemult. Martinez is also a dedicated volunteer for the St. Charles Cancer Center. Her family created CAN Cancer (Community Assistance for Neighbors) to fund non-medical living expenses for Central Oregonians fighting all forms of cancer in cooperation with the Central Oregon Haulers, a group of garbage and disposal companies including Bend Garbage & Recycling, Cascade Disposal, High Country Disposal, Prineville Disposal and Madras Sanitary Service.
