Update: Prescribed burn near Sunriver postponed

A prescribed fire planned near Sunriver early next week has been postponed.

Due to changing weather conditions, the prescribed burn that was scheduled for ignitions next Monday will be postponed until the burn objectives for this specific area can be met. It is still on the schedule to be burned this spring.

This 60-acre unit, known as “Oz 8”, is located within the congressionally designated Deschutes Skyline Collaborative Forest Landscape Restoration boundary, which receives funding towards accelerated forest restoration. It is part of an ongoing Oregon State University research project that evaluates short- and long-term effects of vegetation treatments on forest development.
