Final EIS out for Ochoco Summit Trail System
The Ochoco National Forest has released the Final Environmental Impact Statement and draft Record of Decision for the Ochoco Summit Trail System Project, which proposes to designate a system of routes and trails for motorized recreation.
A 45-day objection period follows public notification of availability in the Federal Register and the newspaper of record.

The draft decision proposes to designate a sustainable route system of nearly 130 miles to provide suitable recreation opportunities for motorized uses, such as motorcycles, Jeeps, and ATVs.
The forest’s 2011 Travel Management Project decision limited motorized recreation opportunities on forest roads and prohibited driving cross-country.
Project analysis first began in 2009 and a Draft Environmental Impact Statement was released for public comment in February 2013. Only those who submitted a written comment during an advertised public comment period have standing to file an objection during the 45-day objection period.
A 45-day review period follows the 45-day objection period in which time the Reviewing Official will respond to objections filed.
