Five injured in four-car Highway 126 crash
Five people suffered non-life-threatening injuries Thursday afternoon in a four-car crash on Hwy. 126 west of Redmond, triggered when a teen driver struck the rear of a car stopped waiting to turn left, Oregon State Police reported. The driver was cited.
Shortly after 2 p.m., a Toyota Camry driven by Donna Woodman, 54, of Redmond, was westbound on Highway 126, stopped waiting to turn left into Cline Falls State Park, when it was rear-ended by a Dodge Neon driven by a 16-year-old Redmond girl, troopers said.
The collision sent the Dodge Neon off the right shoulder, where it hit a parked pickup. The Toyota, meanwhile, was pushed into the oncoming lane, where it collided with an eastbound Subaru Legacy driven by Helen Hagen, 70, of Culver.
The Dodge’s driver, two people in the Toyota and two in the Subaru were taken by ambulance to St. Charles-Redmond with non-life-threatening injuries, troopers said.
The crash blocked the highway for about 45 minutes. The 16-year-old driver, who troopers did not identify, was cited for following too close.
OSP was assisted at the scene by the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office, Redmond Fire and Rescue, and ODOT. Senior Trooper James Reeher was the lead investigator.
