Redmond schools name new tech director
Redmond School District Superintendent Mike McIntosh has announced the selection of Jeremy Macdonald as its new Director of Technology and Innovation.
Macdonald is currently working for Bend-LaPine School District as their Integrated Technology Systems Coordinator. Before joining Bend-LaPine, Jeremy served as both a teacher and instructional technology coach at Klamath Falls City Schools. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Brigham Young University and master’s degree from the University of New England.
Redmond School District’s technology services are currently contracted through the High Desert Education Service District (HDESD). Because of the district’s growing instructional technology needs, it was decided to bring IT services in-house beginning July 1 at the start of the new fiscal year.
Macdonald will be responsible for leading the information technology department and the implementation of the district’s mobile device initiative for students. Because of Macdonald’s experience in instructional technology, his educational focus and his working knowledge of regional IT efforts, the district felt he was the right fit for its needs.
“I look forward to joining the Redmond community,” shared Macdonald. “I’m excited to help lead Redmond School District’s vision to broaden the opportunities for students and staff to engage in richer learning experiences through technology and connected learning.”
