Bicycle Re-Source of Bend receives grant
The Bicycle Re-source of Bend is the recipient of a $5,000 grant from four funds of The Oregon Community Foundation for training volunteers and community youth in the maintenance and repair of bicycles donated to needy individuals in the community.
The four funds of The Oregon Community Foundation are:
Henry J. Casey Fund ($1,500)
Robert W. Chandler Fund ($2,000)
Lori and Les Cooper Fund ($1,000)
Moss Family Fund ($500)
The mission of the Bicycle Resource of Bend is “Connecting Bikes with People who need Wheels,” Community Education and Support.
The Bicycle Resource of Bend takes donated bikes and parts and refurbishes them for use by needy members of the Central Oregon community.
Repaired bicycles are used for transportation to jobs and school for those without other means of transportation.
The mission of The Oregon Community Foundation is to improve life in Oregon and promote effective philanthropy. OCF works with individuals, families, businesses and organizations to create charitable funds to support the community causes they care about. Through these funds OCF awarded nearly $60 million in grants and scholarships.
The Foundation make grants through an application process that involves local citizens in the review and evaluation of requests for funds. Application materials are available through the Foundation’s Portland office.
