Madras man killed in pickup truck crash

KTVZ

A 48-year-old Madras man suffered fatal injuries Saturday night when his pickup truck left a road north of Madras and overturned, throwing him to the ground, Jefferson County sheriff’s deputies said.

Deputies responded shortly after 10 p.m. to the reported single-vehicle crash on NE Clark Drive near Dogwood Lane, said sheriff’s Capt. Marc Heckathorn.

An investigation determined Lloyd Cooper of Madras was driving alone north on Clark Drive when he drove onto the road shoulder, then over-corrected, Heckathorn said. The pickup then rolled off the east side of Clark Drive.

Driver Martin Lloyd Cooper was found ejected from the pickup, the captain said. He was treated at the scene by paramedics, then taken to St. Charles Madras, where he died later Saturday night of his injuries, Heckathorn said.

Alcohol appears to be a contributing factor in the crash, according to Heckathorn.

Deputies were assisted by Jefferson County Fire District. No. 1 and Jefferson County EMS.
