Hearing Tuesday for proposed Bend charter school

On Tuesday at 6 p.m., the Bend-La Pine School Board will hold a hearing to discuss the proposed Bend International School.

The public may attend and comment on the proposed school, which will be a K-8 public charter school focused on international education.

The goals of the school include:

Increased academic achievement Reducing the equity gap Promoting diversity and global competence Second language skills through their world language program

The Bend-La Pine School Board is expected to vote on the proposed charter school on March 10th.

The school has been awarded the US Federal Charter Schools Grant and scored in the top 5% of the nation for overall program design and curriculum. This grant covers the school’s startup costs of over $700,000!
