Bend Endurance Academy expands offerings

KTVZ

Bend Endurance Academy’s enrollment for Spring and Summer mountain biking programs are now open for the 2015 season. The program offerings have something for every level of youth rider including some new additions to the already popular cycling program.

New for the 2015 season is the Balance Biker program for children ages 2 – 4, riders must be able to do some striding on their balance bikes and BEA does not have any loaners so riders must have their own bikes. The Balance Biker group will explore cool areas; play games and work on becoming a team under the direction of BEA’s great coaches.

Also new for this summer is the Enduro Team for intermediate to advanced riders ages 13 – 19.

While the term ‘enduro mountain biking’ can mean a lot of things, this program will focus on riding fast on trails that generally go downhill.

“It’s perfect for riding as a group because the main focus isn’t hammering out a thirty mile loop in 3 hours, it’s riding together, learning from each other while dialing in shorter sections of trail and making multiple attempts to perfect your skills,” states BEA cycling program director Bill Warburton. Participants will need to have full suspension bikes with at least 140mm of travel.

As with previous years BEA will again be offering spring mountain biking programs on Wednesday’s to coincide with early dismissal from Bend La Pine Schools.
