Cowboys, cattle – and culinary – hit 75th Sisters Rodeo
The 75th annual Sisters Rodeo draws in fans from all over to see “The Biggest Little Show in the World.” While many come for the action inside the arena, the food draws quite a crowd as well.
“We cooked 570 racks of ribs in two days, took first place and went home happy,” Carl Perry, owner and pit master of Trail’s End BBQ, said Friday.
After earning some hardware down in California, they’ve returned to the Sisters Rodeo for their eighth year.
“It’s a hometown show, so that makes it nice,” Perry said. “Friends are here, and I’m a member of the rodeo association. And it’s just kind of fun to be here.”
Trail’s End BBQ Co. offers pork, tri-tip, chicken and many sides. Curly fries is a Sisters Rodeo special only.
Perry expects they’ll go through 2,500 pounds of potatoes this weekend, and 1,400 pounds of raw meat.
“Depending on what it is,” he said, “tri-tip takes about three to four hours, ribs about five hours, and our pulled pork, which we’re famous for, takes about 16 hours.”
Trail’s End BBQ Co. will be at the Sisters Rodeo through the weekend.
