Prineville man arrested in Redmond thefts; stolen ATV sought
Redmond police said Friday they arrested a 19-year-old Prineville man as he was released from the Crook County Jail, this time on new car theft and other charges stemming a March 24 incident in Redmond. They also said they are still looking for a stolen pink side-by-side ATV.
A Redmond officer arrested Kylian Beitz on Thursday on several crimes in the March 24 incident, after evidence found at the scene was analyzed by the Oregon State Police crime lab and linked Beitz to the crimes, said Sgt. Cuurtis Chambers.
Redmond police earlier arrested Beitz April 6 on a warrant and on charges stemming from a police chase early on March 23, Chambers said. In that case, he said, Beitz refused to pull over on a traffic stop for an improper left turn, crashed a friend’s car and fled. The car was returned to its owner — and he was arrested in April, driving the same car.
Beitz was being held without bail Friday at the Deschutes County Jail on a probation violation charge, and faces new Redmond charges of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, first-, second- and third-degree theft and first- and second-degree criminal mischief. Jail records also listed charges of first-degree burglary, two counts of attempting to elude police and reckless driving
Redmond police are still seeking the public’s help in finding and returning the ATV and other items stolen to their rightful owners.
Anyone with information that could help is asked to call Deschutes County dispatchers at (541) 693-6911.
