KTVZ

United Way of Deschutes County and Volunteer Connect are proud to announce a new partnership as they team up to organize and present the 2015 Days of Caring. The event will be held September 18th and 19 th in Deschutes and Crook counties.

Days of Caring is a community-wide effort that brings together volunteers and local businesses to provide short term, project-focused volunteer service with non-profit and public organizations.

The annual two-day event gives volunteers an opportunity to assist community organizations in achieving their goals, learn more about solutions to community issues, and experience the intrinsic rewards of contributing to the well-being of our region.

By collaborating, Volunteer Connect and United Way will be able to join their areas of expertise and experience to foster more and stronger volunteer connections for local community organizations.

“United Way of Deschutes County welcomes the opportunity to partner with Volunteer Connect to extend and enhance Days of Caring. Our two organizations have a common interest in promoting voluntarism, which we know benefits the volunteers as well as the recipient organizations and the community at large,” said Ken Wilhelm, Executive Director.

United Way of Deschutes County began the local event in September of 1996 under the title “Good Neighbor Day”. The annual event moved to June in 2005 and now, after a ten year run there, is returning to its original fall schedule. United Way estimates that over the 18 years of its operation approximately 7,000 volunteers have contributed more than 25,000 hours of service to the community.

Betsy Warriner, Executive Director – Volunteer Connect, declared, “We are excited about the opportunity to collaborate with United Way in this amazing event that benefits community organizations through the infusion of energetic and caring volunteers.”

Registration information for community organizations and volunteer teams will be available in July.
