Prineville woman jailed in deadly DUII pickup crash

A 31-year-old Prineville woman was arrested Tuesday afternoon on second-degree manslaughter, DUII, criminally negligent homicide and other charges in a June 20 pickup rollover crash in southern Crook County that killed a man from the northeast Oregon town of Ione, sheriff’s deputies said.

Jamie Sue McCormack was taken into custody at the Crook County Jail on an arrest warrant listing charges that also included reckless driving and two counts of recklessly endangering another person, said Sgt. Bill Elliott. Bail was set at $250,000.

Deputies said McCormack was at the wheel of a 2004 Ford F-350 extended-cab pickup that crashed late Saturday night, June 20 near the McCormack Ranch while heading south on Southeast Bear Creek Fife Road, about 30 miles east of Bend and 50 miles south of Prineville.

Two of three passengers were riding in the bed of the truck when the driver lost control and it overturned. throwing both of them to the ground, deputies said at the time.

Cayle Krebs, 30, of the Morrow County town of Ione, was dead upon arrival. The other two passengers had non-life-threatening injuries, deputies said, adding that both speed and alcohol were apparent factors in the crash.
