Two Bend teens accused of stealing from unlocked cars
Two Bend teens were arrested early one morning this week, accused of entering at least 10 unlocked cars parked in a southeast Bend neighborhood and taking items from them, police said Friday.
Rico Lazzereschi, 18, and a 16-year-old male whose name was not released were contacted by Bend police around 3:30 a.m. Wednesday in the area of Southeast 15 th Street and Twin Lakes Loop, said Lt. Clint Burleigh.
Officers soon learned the two had entered several vehicles in the area, targeting unlocked vehicles and recovered several items taken from them, Burleigh said.
The two were arrested on 10 counts each of unlawful entry into a motor vehicle and released, with a citation to appear in court. Theft charges are also possible, depending on the continuing investigation, he said.
Some of the recovered items have not been returned to owners. If you had a vehicle entered or had items taken from your property, you’re asked to contact Bend police at 541-693-6911.
“We are committed (to) returning the recovered property to the rightful owners,” Burleigh said.
He also reminded the community to remove valuables from inside your vehicle when its parked – and to lock the doors.
