Avalon Aeropub, located upstairs in the boarding lounge at the Redmond Municipal Airport (RDM), will be closed beginning Monday for a month of remodeling and expansion work, officials said Thursday.

The restaurant is expected to reopen Feb. 1, after a project to double the square footage and the seating capacity of the dining area.

Upgrades will include a state of the art beer and wine dispensing system, granite tabletops, family-friendly booth seating, and multiple high-definition TV monitors, officials said, adding that Central Oregon area contractors will be utilized for this project.

Dan Brawn, Avalon Aeropub owner, said “We are excited for the opportunity to serve Central Oregon in this airport. This expansion is a demonstration of our commitment to providing our customers with the level of service and the experience they deserve.”

During the closure of the Avalon Aeropub, RDM passengers will find an expanded selection of “grab and go” sandwiches, wraps and salads from Dancing River Caf, located on the main floor of boarding lounge. Alcoholic beverages will not be available during the remodeling project, officials said

Airport Business Manager Zachary Bass commented “We are very excited to offer our growing customer base expanded options at the Redmond Airport. Some travelers have yet to discover the great food and beverage options on our mezzanine level.”
