Baker City tests residue at former drug lab
BAKER CITY, Oregon (AP) — Police say a house they designated as an illegal drug lab in eastern Oregon has methamphetamine residue of up to 500 times the amount that the state considers safe.
The Baker City Herald reports (http://bit.ly/2dVlAp5 ) that Larry Stone of the Portland firm A Best Environmental LLC told police the Baker City house had one of the highest levels of meth residue the contractor has seen in 15 years of experience.
Police Chief Wyn Lohner says the city has been trying to get the property owner to clean up the former meth lab for the past year and a half. Baker City Police have now hired A Best Environmental to begin the process, and the contractor hired a third-party company to do the methamphetamine testing.
