Redmond police seek tips to suspect in assault on teen
Redmond police are looking for witnesses or other tips to help find a man suspected of assaulting a teen Saturday afternoon in the Dry Canyon Trail area near the Maple Street Bridge.
In a Facebook post, officers said an investigation had determined the man assaulted the boy around 3:15 p.m. Saturday, than ran toward the trailhead at Northwest 19th Street and Poplar Avenue.
The boy was taken to St. Charles Redmond for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, officers said.
The suspect was described as a white male adult, 50 to 60 years old. He last was seen wearing a checkered flannel shirt and jeans and had a white dog with him, described as a “bird dog.”
Anyone who witnessed the incident or who may know the suspect’s identity was asked to call Redmond police at 541-693-6911 or contact them on their Facebook page, referencing case 17-143455.
The teen’s father posted to Facebook and told NewsChannel 21 by email that his 14-year-old son was with a 15-year-old at the time of the assault, and that the man broke his son’s collarbone and spit in the other teen’s face.
