DCSO arrests naked man near Cline Butte rock pit
A 28-year-old cellphone tower worker from Tennessee faces several charges, accused of attacking a Redmond woman at a Cline Butte rock pit on Friday, entering a car and portable toilet, then taking off all of his clothes and walking away, authorities said.
Deschutes County 911 dispatchers got a call shortly before 1 p.m. from a 64-year-old woman who reported a man was in a co-worker’s older Ford pickup at Cline Butte Rock Products at 3651 Cline Falls Highway, said sheriff’s Lt. Mike Biondi.
The woman then said she was unable to talk, hung up and dispatchers could not reach her by phone.
Arriving deputies investigated and learned Adam Hebda, 28, of Clarksville, Tennessee, was a contract employee from out of the area, working on a cellphone tower on the company’s property, Biondi said.
For unknown reasons, Hebda entered the worker’s pickup and the woman confronted him. Biondi said Hebda got out of the truck, approached the woman and dragged her about 30 feet back to the pickup, forcing her to get inside. The woman said she was able to fight him off and get away uninjured.
Hebda then rifled through a portable toilet, soiling his clothes, the lieutenant said. He then removed all of his clothes and left on foot.
Sheriff’s deputies contacted the naked man about a half-mile down a gravel road and detained him, Biondi said.
Hebda was taken to St. Charles Bend for evaluation by medical staff, Biondi said. He was cited on charges of coercion, harassment, attempted unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and unlawful entry into a motor vehicle. Biondi said more charges may be considered.
