Bend-La Pine Schools celebrate students’ post-graduation plans
Members of the Bend-La Pine Schools’ Class of 2017 are now spread out across the globe, from Oregon State University to Stanford University and from New York to France.
The graduating Class of 2017, which earned more than $11 million in scholarships, is attending a wide range of colleges, universities, trade schools and military institutions.
Every year, Bend-La Pine Schools collects information about the plans for its graduating class and shares them in a map.
“I look forward to seeing this map every year, so I can celebrate our graduates as they move on to experience success after high school,” said Superintendent Shay Mikalson. “We believe in the importance of preparing our graduates for college and careers with rigorous academic offerings and opportunities to earn college credits.”
Bend-La Pine Schools offers rigorous and relevant Career and Technical Education courses, from engineering to computer-integrated manufacturing to graphic design. Approximately 2,300 students enrolled in 148 CTE courses in our high schools.
High school students are also given many opportunities to earn college credits while still enrolled in high school including Advanced Placement courses, International Baccalaureate courses, dual credit courses and more. Thanks to these opportunities, Bend-La Pine students earn thousands of quarter-hour credits each year.
