Local Alert Weather – Thurs. PM
Happy Thursday evening, everyone!
A mild system is pushing into the Pacific Northwest. The Willamette Valley, Coast Range, and the Cascades will see a lot of rain over the next 24 hours, so a Flood Watch is in effect in those areas. Snow levels are high with this flow upwards of 8,000′. Unfortunately high snow levels and mild temperatures mean more rain than snow for the ski resorts. Passes will see spots of ice with a rain/snow mix by the end of the day Friday.
Overnight for Central Oregon we have the slight chance for rain showers, but overall we’re looking at dry conditions. Partly cloudy to mostly cloudy skies are ahead for the night. Lows will be in the low to mid 30s, which is around 15 degrees above normal.
Friday begins dry, but sees a good chance for rain showers by the afternoon. Most of the rain will fall on the Cascades and the east slopes, west of highway 97. I would bring a raincoat along for Friday night as we cannot rule out some showers. Highs for the day will peak in the upper 40s and lower 50s, which is also above average.
A cold front sweeps through Friday night and we’ll see cool air behind. For the weekend highs will be in the upper 30s and lower 40s, which is more seasonal. Mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies are on tap for the last few days of 2017.
