HILLSBORO, Ore. (AP) – Authorities say a 55-year-old woman died in a mobile home fire in Hillsboro early Monday.

Hillsboro police Lt. Henry Reimann says firefighters responded to the engulfed home at about 5 a.m. and found the body of Cynthia Ann Stephens. Her husband, Larry Stephens, escaped without injury.

Reimann says the Stephens’ cat died at the scene, but their dog was found at a neighbor’s house in good condition.

Authorities later said while the husband was able to get out unhurt, the woman apparently went back in to look for the cat.

The fire’s cause was determined to bel electrical, police said.
