Car crashes into Chan’s of Redmond

KTVZ

A two-vehicle collision Wednesday morning sent one car barreling into Chan’s of Redmond, police reported.

Just past 10 a.m. on Southwest Glacier Avenue, an 80-year-old Redmond woman ran a red light, hitting a car heading south on 6th Street, Lt. Curtis Chambers said.

The woman’s car spun off the road and crashed into the front Chan’s, doing significant damage to the building and even knocking a booth off the wall toward the center of the Chinese restaurant.

There were no customers in the restaurant at the time of the collision.

The damage will take a while to fix, and the restaurant’s manager said he’s expecting to be closed for at least the next several days — but they’re hopeful it won’t hurt the bottom line too much.

“Our customers are really understanding,” waitress Samantha Farnsworth said. “They’re really great, so hopefully they’ll be OK with waiting another week.”

There were no injuries and the cars were towed from the scene but were not totaled. The offending driver was given a citation, but no arrests were made.
