FLORENCE, Ore. (AP) – A string of five small earthquakes was reported off the Oregon Coast Sunday morning.

The U.S. Geological Survey says the larges, a magnitude 5.3 quake, occurred shortly after 7 a.m., west of Florence.

The earthquake was seven miles deep, and there are no reports of injuries or damage. Four other, smaller quakes also were recorded, according to the USGS map of recent quakes.

No tsunami warnings have been issued.

A string of 10 quakes was recorded Tuesday morning, the largest a 5.6 magnitude, about 125 miles west of Gold Beach.

Experts have said for years that Oregon and the Pacific Northwest are due for a major earthquake with a magnitude of 8.0 or higher. Smaller quakes are fairly common.
