Local Alert Weather, Thu. AM, 9.27.18

KTVZ

Good Thursday Morning, Everyone…
Despite high pressure showing some early signs of weakening over the region we are expecting a sunny, warm day today. Highs will reach the low to mid 80’s, once again. Northerly breezes will be quite gentle at 5-10 mph. Skies will remain clear tonight and overnight lows will be fairly mild, ranging from the upper 30’s to mid 40’s. Breezes will become light and variable after midnight.

A quick note about SMOKE : There are three major fires still burning to our SW. Both the Miles Fire near Medford and the Natchez Fire in NW California are over 50,000 acres and continuing to burn. The Klondike Fire near Brookings is now over 150,000 acres. Modest wind shifts have brought smoke from those fires into Central Oregon.

Friday will also be another warm, sunny day, but Friday night we will begin to see some evidence of change. A system developing off the Northern California coastline will strengthen and move in over the Oregon/California border. Moisture within that system will increase our cloud cover and bring a chance of showers beginning Saturday night. A chance of showers will linger over Central Oregon through Monday morning. From there we will see some partial clearing. Temps will cool modestly with highs hanging around 70 degrees and lows in the upper 30’s to low 40’s into the middle of next week.
