Local Alert Weather, Thu. 0445, 1.17.19
Good Thursday morning, everyone…
Redmond Schools: 2-Hour Delay
Culver Schools: 2-Hour Delay
Jefferson 509-J Schools: 2-Hour Delay
Storm activity pressing northward out of California will deliver high winds and mixed showers to the High Desert today. Highs will reach the mid 40’s and SE winds sustained at 10-15 mph will gust as high as 20-5 mph. We will see some snow mix with the rain tonight as lows dip to freezing and a bit below. Winds will turn southerly and back off to 5-10 mph. You can expect driving conditions to be poor once again tomorrow morning. Wet roads today will turn icy again by tomorrow morning.
This will be good news for Mt. Bachelor! They are expecting 3-7″ of wind driven snow over the next 24 hours. With winter storm activity continuing into the weekend the mountain could see 1-2 feet of fresh snow by Sunday night.
The southerly flow within this system will keep our temperatures mild, mid to upper 40’s, for the rest of the week and through the weekend. That means that most of the precipitation we see for the next few days will be in the form of rain with some snow mixing in during the overnight hours.
