Bend-La Pine Schools Superintendent Shay Mikalson announced Thursday that Lisa Birk has been selected to serve as the principal for Pacific Crest Middle School.

Birk currently serves as the assistant principal at Pacific Crest, a position she has served in for the past four years.

“I am honored to be selected for this position,” Birk said. “I am proud of the culture we have built at Pacific Crest and I’m excited to continue to work alongside our dedicated and talented staff members to create powerful, meaningful and relevant experiences for our students.”

“We are creating a community where students possess a strong sense of self, are ready academically to access any opportunity and have strong social and emotional skills.”

Prior to serving at Pacific Crest, Birk was an assistant principal and student services coordinator at Bear Creek Elementary School for four years. She also has six years of teaching experience.

Birk is known as a strong instructional leader with a passion for the Pacific Crest community and a vision for the future of the school, the school district said.

“I bring a strong value for learning and a relentless support for students,” Birk dded.

Birk will begin her position July 1; current Principal Chris Boyd has been selected to serve as planning principal for the new high school opening in southeast Bend in fall of 2021.
