BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- Since starting in 2023, the Deschutes County Coordinated Houseless Response Office has experienced much change over the past few months. With the resignation of Executive Director Cheyenne Purrington, the office has faced much criticism and questions over what tangible impact it has made in reducing homelessness.

The office has seen some successes, despite the hurdles of the past year.

Bend Mayor Pro Tem Megan Perkins said, "We've more reached our goal of having 500 shelter beds in the community. We have our first outdoor shelter, we have a safe parking program. We have been moving forward as fast as we can and finding as many solutions as possible to deal with this really serious issue."

Matthew Draxton spoke to CHRO board members to discuss how funding for the office is used, tangible goals for the year, and an update on the executive director vacancy.
