PHOENIX (AP) — Ex-Phoenix City Council member Yassamin Ansari has won the Democratic primary for Arizona’s 3rd Congressional District, beating former state lawmaker Raquel Terán in a recount. A Maricopa County Superior Court judge announced the results Tuesday. Ansari defeated Terán by 39 votes after ballots were tallied again. Her initial lead of just 42 votes fell within the margin spelled out in state law that trigger a recount. Ansari will face Republican Jeff Zink in the November general election for an open seat in a Democratic-leaning district that covers parts of Phoenix. Republicans currently hold a majority of the state’s nine U.S. House districts.
