More than 300 people taking part in this year’s Central Oregon Walk to End Alzheimer’s at Riverbend Park
BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- At Riverbend Park in Bend, people are walking for a purpose on Sunday.
They are participating in the Walk to End Alzheimer's, the largest fundraiser for Alzheimer's care, support and research.
In the hours before the event, more than 300 participants had signed up to take part, and over 80 teams.
The organization already has reached its fundraising goal for this year of $100,000, as $101,319 had been raised.
According to the Alzheimer's Association, nearly 7 million Americans are living with Alzheimer's, and it kills more than breast cancer and prostate cancer combined.
Kelsey McGee will be on hand at the walk to speak with organizers and participants, learning why people are walking today. Her report will be on NewsChannel 21.
