On August 25, 2025, Deschutes County Circuit Court Judge Alycia Herriott sentenced 46-year-old Jeremy Shaw of Bend to just over 31 years in prison. Following a weeklong trial, a jury found Shaw guilty of Sodomy in the First Degree and Sexual Abuse in the First Degree involving a child under the age of twelve.

The assaults occurred in 2011. Shaw had previously pleaded guilty and been sentenced for sexually abusing three other minor children. Judge Herriott ordered the new sentence to run consecutively to the prison time Shaw is already serving, ensuring that he will remain incarcerated for decades to come.

The District Attorney’s Office commends the courage of the victim, who came forward and testified about the repeated sexual abuse she endured as a child. Her strength was essential in securing justice.

The case was investigated by Sgt. Timothy Knea of the Bend Police Department. Prosecution was led by
Deputy District Attorneys Matthew Nelson and Laura Franzen, with the assistance of Kari Dethlefsen.

District Attorney Steve Gunnels stated: “This sentence reflects our community’s commitment to protecting children and holding offenders accountable. We are grateful to the victim for her bravery and to law enforcement for their thorough investigation.”
