Central Oregon Holiday Toy Drive receives donations from local groups
BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) — On Friday morning, $8,000 worth of toys arrived for kids in need.
The Central Oregon Holiday Toy Drive was more than happy to receive this generous donation.
The toy drive is being run by our local Marine Corps League after ‘Toys for Tots’ suspended operations in Central Oregon.
Now, various other sponsors are stepping up, including local motorcycle clubs.
Aaron Myhra of Brother Speed motorcycle club said, “There's a big need, you know. And nobody wants to see a family go without, especially in a magical time like Christmas - much less go to sleep at night knowing that that situation was happening without stepping up and doing something about it.”
Dennis Smith of Motorcyclists of Central Oregon added, “We want to make sure that they can put gifts under the trees for their children.”
The motorcyclists also donated an $8,000 check to the drive from a fundraiser they held last weekend at General Duffy's in Redmond.
The drive also received sponsorship from Ace Hardware, Deschutes Roofing, Summers Flooring & Design, Building Solutions and Handel's Homemade Ice cream.
There's still a need for donations.
And be on the lookout for drop-off boxes around Central Oregon for the Central Oregon Holiday Toy Drive.
