Rainy pattern ahead, cooler today, mild weekend

Bend, Ore (KTVZ).  Mostly cloudy skies today keeping the temperatures down near normal. There may be some patchy fog develop tonight and some stray flurries across the Cascades.

Thursday will be rainy and mild with rain showers off and on through the day. With highs in the upper 40s to low 50s, it will be a cold rain with some flakes flying at the highest elevations of the Cascades, but not much. Generally, the wet pattern ahead will combine with the well above normal temperature to allow mainly rain. Snow riders are not getting much good news this week, but some snow may fall over the weekend. Less than what is needed to spin the lifts, but it is a start.

Friday will be a rainy day with highs in the middle 50s. This once again allows only rain to fall. The rain is expected to be steady during the morning hours, and linger off and on into the overnight time frame. Temps stay well above freezing overnight across the high desert, so if there is any snow, it will be at the highest elevations once again.

Saturday will start out rainy with the lingering showers lasting through about mid-morning. The Bend Christmas Parade is slated to step off at noon, so it looks like the event should be dry, but bring rain gear just in case. Before sunrise Saturday the mountains may see a couple inches of snow.

Sunday looks to be mostly cloudy with some rain at times, but mainly over the Cascades and western sections of the Tri-Counties. The rain will be more likely in Sisters than in Prineville, and will be off and on.

Monday looks to be a dry day before another round of rain arrives Tuesday. Once more, the warmer than normal temperatures will keep this event all rain as well.
