THERE’S GOOD NEWS: Sparkle N Swirl brings dirty soda trend to Central Oregon
REDMOND, Ore. (KTVZ) — Sparkle N Swirl Dirty Sodas, a new food cart specializing in mixed sodas with cream, has opened in Central Oregon. The cart is located in the lot next to the High Desert Music Hall in Redmond.
The business aims to provide a family-friendly alternative to traditional beverage carts. According to owner Shannon Carnahan, the "dirty soda" concept is popular in other regions and she wanted to bring the specialized drinks to the local community.
Dirty sodas consist of flavored sodas mixed with cream. While the cart has recently established its location in Redmond, it previously appeared at various local events throughout the region, including Winterfest.
Owner Carnahan said she opened the business to fill a specific niche in the local food and beverage scene. She noted that many existing mobile beverage services in the area focus on adult-oriented options.
"Nobody's doing just dirty sodas. There are lots of bar carts, there's alcohol, but there's nothing family-friendly just for families," Carnahan said. "So I brought dirty sodas so that everybody can enjoy them, no matter what age you are. If you love sodas, you're going to love dirty sodas even better."
The food cart maintains a rotating menu that changes to reflect different seasons and holidays. Sparkle N Swirl recently offered a selection of special drinks for Valentine's Day. The current seasonal menu includes warm beverage options such as cocoa and cider drinks.
