Snow Report: Winter Weather Advisory and Regional Road Closures

Travelers and snow enthusiasts should exercise caution as a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect for the Cascades through Saturday morning.

NOAA is forecasting an additional 4 inches of heavy, wet snow above 4,000 feet, which will likely create slick and hazardous driving conditions on the Santiam (US-20) and Willamette (OR-58) passes.

Gusts reaching up to 40 mph tonight may also cause blowing snow and limited visibility at higher elevations. Drivers are encouraged to carry chains or traction tires and check the latest road restrictions before heading out.

At the resorts, Mt. Bachelor is expecting another 2 to 3 inches of fresh accumulation tonight following a week of active weather. However, visitors should stay alert to lift status, as lingering high winds may continue to impact mountain operations.

Hoodoo and Willamette Pass are seeing a rain-snow mix today, with roughly an inch of new snow possible overnight. While the precipitation is a welcome addition to the base depths, the transition from rain to snow means conditions will be variable throughout the weekend.

Before heading out, be sure to check local reports and TripCheck for real-time updates. Since conditions can change rapidly, we also recommend confirming with your specific destination for any last-minute closures or site-specific hazards."
