BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) --The Bend-La Pine Education Foundation is awarding $99,400 in classroom enrichment grants to K-12 public schools across the district this fall.

The grants are intended to support hands-on, experiential and project-based learning in subjects including STEM, art, music and wellness. Since 1988, the foundation has invested more than $3 million in local K-12 public schools through business and community support, grant awards and individual donations.

New this year, the foundation created a single $10,000 Signature Classroom Enrichment award. This larger grant is structured to fund higher-impact projects, including individual school programs or collaborative efforts among grade levels, departments, school teams or groups of educators.

The foundation plans to visit multiple schools across Bend, La Pine and Sunriver to present the awards. Media inquiries and scheduling for teacher and administrator interviews regarding the programs are handled by Jamie Goldman at 541-904-5085.

Award winners will be announced at local schools between Oct. 14 and Oct. 23.
