BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) – A motorcyclist was killed in a collision with a vehicle early Saturday afternoon at the intersection of U.S. Highway 20 and the Powell Butte Highway, authorities said.
The collision was reported shortly before 12:30 p.m. and the rider died at the scene, Deschutes County sheriff’s Sergeant Josh Spano confirmed.
An extended closure of the highway was expected for crash reconstruction. ODOT advised on its TripCheck website the highway was closed at the intersection, milepost 4.75, and advised motorists to use an alternate route. The highway reopened later Saturday.
The involved driver stopped after the crash and is fully cooperating with investigators, Spano said. Oregon State Police will lead the investigation and DCSO deputies were assisting ODOT with traffic control.
