BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) – A 42-year-old Bend man was killed Saturday when a minivan driver turned left into his path on Highway 20 at the intersection with Powell Butte Highway, Oregon State Police said Monday.

Troopers and other first responders were called to the crash shortly before 12:30 p.m. Saturday near Milepost 5 of the highway, troopers said.

OSP said a preliminary investigation found that a 76-year-old Bend woman was at the wheel of a Chrysler Pacifica heading east on Highway 20 that attempted a left turn onto the Powell Butte Highway.

Troopers said the minivan traveled into the path of a westbound Harley-Davison motorcycle operated by Jeremy Cecil Regan of Bend, which struck the Pacifica on the passenger side.

The motorcyclist was declared deceased at the scene of the crash, which closed the highway for about 3 12 hours.

The minivan driver was not hurt.

“The cause of the crash is under investigation, with an unsafe turn considered a primary factor,” OSP said.

Troopers were assisted at the scene by Deschutes County sheriff’s deputies and ODOT.

Deschutes County sheriff's Sergeant Josh Spano said the involved driver stopped after the crash and was fully cooperating with investigators.

Regan's sister has created a GoFundMe page to assist his family, noting that he leaves behind five young daughters.
