BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- Mt. Bachelor on Monday reported five inches of snow in the West Village base area since Sunday, bringing the season total to eight inches - with much more on the way - as the ski and snowboard resort ramps up preparations for a hoped-for Opening Day on November 29th, the day after Thanksgiving.

“These are exactly the conditions we hope for at this time of year,” said Mt. Bachelor spokesperson Presley Quon.

Forecasters are calling for another two feet of snow by Friday, then a break for the weekend and another cold front early next week. The resort says skiers and snowboarders can expect to hit the slopes for Mt. Bachelor’s Opening Day on November 29.

In the meantime, teams are hard at work completing maintenance projects and prepping the resort.

“With these prime conditions at play, teams are preparing to begin snowmaking,” said Mt. Bachelor Mountain Operations Director Dustin Smith. “The mountain is currently closed and the slopes are uncontrolled and unpatrolled. We are asking guests to kindly stay away from equipment and teams at work.”

Mountain Gateway will continue to open Saturdays and Sundays from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. for guest services including retail, seasonal rentals, gear tuning, boot-fitting, and ticket or pass assistance.

New this year, guests can opt for convenient gear storage with Mt. Bachelor’s Ski and Snowboard Valet which offers overnight, multi-day, or seasonal gear storage, plus an elevated ‘Gear-Up Lounge’ with complimentary refreshments on select days.

The count to the 2024/25 season is officially on. Visit mtbachelor.com for tickets, weather, and more.
