Bend man, 3 teens arrested in thefts from vehicles, including handgun

21-year-old in traffic stop; three teen boys found hiding in area

BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- A report of vehicle break-ins in southeast Bend early Tuesday morning led to a traffic stop and arrest of 21-year-old Bend man, as well as the arrest of three teens hiding nearby and recovery of stolen items, including a handgun, police said.

Officers responded just after 4 a.m. to an address on Southeast Rocca Way on a report of people entering vehicles, Lt. Juli McConkey said.

Officers learned a dark-colored BMW was involved in the alleged break-ins and thefts, she said.

Police found and stopped the BMW and arrested the driver, Taylor James Guidry, 21, who was taken into custody without incident, McConkey said.

Officers checking the area around Rocca Way located three male juveniles hiding who were allegedly involved in the thefts. The Bend residents are 14, 15 and 16 years old, McConkey said.

Stolen property, including the gun, were in the suspects’ possession and recovered. McConkey said. The items, believed to be stolen from several vehicles in the area, were taken to the Bend police headquarters, she said, and efforts were underway to return them to their owners.

Anyone who finds they have been the victim of a vehicle break-in and/or theft from vehicles is asked to contact Bend police at 541-693-6911 to make a report and possibly have their items returned.

Guidry was lodged in the Deschutes County Jail on two charges of first-degree theft (of a firearm and from a motor vehicle) and unlawful entry into a vehicle. His bail totaled $25,000, jail records showed.

The three teens were taken to the county’s juvenile detention facility and are being held on the same charges.
