Redmond 18-year-old arrested on DUII, other charges after crashing stolen SUV through fences, into carport
REDMOND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- An 18-year-old Redmond resident crashed a stolen SUV through two fences and a carport, then into a detached tool shed in southwest Redmond early Sunday morning and was arrested on DUII and other charges, police said.
Officers responded shortly before 5 a.m. to the reported crash involving a 2017 Chevy Suburban in the 3100 block of SW Volcano Avenue. Lieutenant Eric Beckwith said. The SUV had been reported stolen in a Redmond neighborhood the previous evening, he said.
The driver crashed through two residential fences and a carport, then into a detached tool shed, but the home on the property was not hit or damaged. Beckwith said the residents were sleeping and unhurt.
Officers investigating the crash determined the driver was impaired and arrested him on several charges. He was booked into the Deschutes County Jail on charges of DUII, reckless driving, reckless endangering, first-degree criminal mischief, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and possession of a stolen vehicle.
No formal charges had been filed by Monday evening. NewsChannel 21 policy is to not name arrested individuals until and unless formal charges are filed.
