Redmond police arrest Madras man on charges of burglarizing sushi restaurant, RC/hobbies shop
REDMOND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- Redmond Police detectives and officers arrested a 34-year-old Madras man on burglary, theft and criminal mischief charges, accused of breaking into Sora Sushi and Xtreme RC and Hobbies early last week, officers said Tuesday.
Ryan Eugene Gray is accused of the crimes that occurred the evening of Monday, August 19 at the sushi restaurant on Southwest 21st Street and the hobby store on Northwest Sixth Street, Lieutenant Eric Beckwith said.
Video and physical evidence, along with investigative leads, led to a search warrant being executed at one of two locations in Jefferson County where Gray lives, Beckwith said. During the raid, radio-controlled cars and parts were recovered.
Gray was arraigned last Friday on four initial district attorney charges: two counts of second-degree burglary, and first- and second-degree theft, court records show. He is due back in court Friday for arraignment on an expected grand jury indictment. Jail records showed Gray remained held Tuesday on $25,000 bail set by the judge.
Judge Michelle McIver said in her post-hearing order that Gray qualified for a court-appointed attorney, but the public defender shortage meant one was unavailable to represent him. She ordered the Oregon Public Defense Commission to provide an attorney.
Beckwith said Redmond Police partnered with Bend and Madras police, Jefferson County sheriff’s deputies and Crooked River Fire & Rescue in “working toward a successful outcome of the investigation.”
